SPHE in the School
The role of the SPHE Support Service is to support schools in the implementation of SPHE. In addition we provide the following service in relation to child protection:

  • I day training courses for all newly appointed Designated and Deputy Designated Liaison Persons. If the DLP and DDLP have previously received training, the school may wish to nominate another person to attend.
  • Information evenings on the new Child Protection Procedures for member of Boards of Management. These evenings are co-delivered with the JMB / IVEA and ACCS.
The above events are organised by Drumcondra Education Centre. Schools are notified by letter twice a year. If you have any enquiries please ring Bernie Howard in Drumcondra Education Centre at 01 857 6431 or email her at bernieh@ecdrumcondra.ie

The SPHE Support Service provides a half day seminar for whole staffs called Promoting the Welfare and Protection of Students. The seminar raises awareness of a range of issues relating to the well being of students, including child protection. For further information please contact your local Regional Manager.

The SPHE Support Service does not provide whole staff information sessions on the Child Protection Procedures.

Below you will find two presentations that can be used with staff, in addition to other documentation relating to the new Procedures.
